Con Edison turned on the power Monday for frustrated residents of the Village on the Lake condos after they were left in the dark for two days.
The complex, located on Leisure Way, lost electricity Saturday due to a power surge. Residents said they experienced smoldering appliances and popping circuit breakers, causing some damage.
Residents were told an electrician would inspect the wiring in the 18 affected condos and then Con Ed would come in to make the necessary repairs, but they said Con Ed never showed up. Utility crews arrived at the condo after News 12 Westchester called the company.
Con Ed spokeswoman Sandy Miller said there was a misunderstanding about the company's anticipated visit. She said Con Ed was awaiting word from an electrician that the wiring was safe.
An electrical inspector completed his inspection Monday morning and gave that information to Con Ed.
