Con Ed customers could soon be paying more for gas and electricity.
Westchester customers’ electric bills could go up as much as $6, and the gas bill could go up $17.
Con Ed is seeking $485 million to run its electric delivery and $210 million for natural gas delivery. The president of Con Ed says they are using the money to help with infrastructure issues and other improvements including their response to severe weather events.
The proposal is expected to face pushback from New York state regulators, and the Public Service Commission will have the final say.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently threatened Con Ed with fines if it repeats last winter’s poor performance when it comes to keeping the power on during severe weather.
