A community has come together to raise money after an 18-year-old girl was left paralyzed from a biking accident last week.
The family of Jazmine Torres told News 12 that she was biking when they believe she slid into a fence post. During the accident, she hit her head and broke four vertebrae, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.
Her sister started a GoFundMe to help, and so far the community has raised more than $29,000 in a week.
The family says Torres is humbled by the support and remains hopeful that someday she'll ride again.
