Empire City Casino in Yonkers is now one step closer to getting a full casino license.
Members of the Community Advisory Committee voted unanimously on Thursday to approve a proposal to expand the casino.
Yonkers officials say the $2.3 billion renovation project would bring more jobs and money to the city and state.
Now that the proposal has been approved, the state still needs to approve the project for one of the three Downstate gaming licenses.
The state's gaming board says they expect to make the decision by December.
