A Colorado man will spend 17 years in prison for firing a gun at teenagers who were playing basketball at Kings Park in Poughkeepsie.

Justting Haywood, 40, pleaded guilty to the 2020 murder-for-hire plot. He had been offered $5,000 to kill someone, according to U.S. attorneys.

Prosecutors say that when he arrived at the park, he thought he had found his intended target. They say he approached the teens and attempted to shoot one of them. 

The teen, who was not the intended target, was not hit.

Haywood will also serve three years of probation.
