A man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting that happened nearly five years ago in White Plains.

Court records identify the suspect as Shawn McLaurin.

The shooting happened on New Year's Eve 2021, just minutes before midnight on North Kensico Avenue.

Authorities say 49-year-old Shawn Jefferson was found shot and killed not far from his home.

McLaurin now faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Officials have not released details about what led up to the shooting.

The case marks a major development in a homicide that remained unsolved for years.
