The Hudson Valley continues to dig out from Saturday's epic snowstorm.

At a news conference Monday, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano praised the efforts of city crews that have been pushed to their limits by the storm.

Schools in Yonkers will reopen on Tuesday, and Mayor Spano is asking residents to not park on the streets or in a way that will block the school buses.

Officials from the Yonkers Department of Public Works say crews worked throughout the weekend to clear major roads, leaving smaller side roads as a secondary concern. They say they are working around the clock to clear side streets near schools and churches.

Some residents, however, were not pleased with the unplowed roads that still remained Monday.

"How are the people that live here going to get to work or go food shopping? It doesn't make sense," said Yonkers resident Andrew Pasciucco. "What are they waiting for? It's not going to melt."

DPW crews across the region are urging people not to toss the snow back into the street when digging out cars.
