Environmental clean-up crews are working to cap an oil spill that occurred from an underground tank at IBM?s Yorktown research facility.
IBM officials say about 1,000 gallons of heating oil leaked and seeped into wetlands on the property. The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) says IBM hired three companies to deal with the cleanup. Crews emptied the tank and are trying to locate the source of the leak.
DEC officials say the leak did not spread and there was no evidence of any impact to wildlife in the area.
