Classes will officially get underway at the at Isaac E. Young Middle School in New Rochelle next week.
The classes were delayed after rain from last week's Tropical Storm Ida flooded the school with contaminated water that destroyed the cafeteria and damaged a dozen classrooms.
On Thursday, parts of the school - mostly the basement, looked like a construction zone.
Crews have been working around the clock, tearing out walls and floors and replacing sheetrock in classrooms that were flooded - and sanitizing the school to prevent mold.
The superintendent says despite the way things look now, they'll be ready for classes next Monday
Because the cafeteria was destroyed, the school will offer grab-and-go lunches for the foreseeable future.
As bad as the damage was, New Rochelle High School is much worse.
The school won't likely reopen for another six to eight weeks.
