Mount Vernon's finest are seeking the best and brightest to join their team.
The city is launching a special training course to help potential recruits prepare for the rigorous training ahead.
On Thursday, city leaders announced a partnership with the Westchester County Homeowners Coalition to offer a free five-week training course to prepare men and women for a law enforcement career.
The class is taught by a retired police lieutenant.
There are already more than 200 applicants, but the department is only looking to hire about 10 for the next class. A good test score could give a potential candidate an edge.
Once the written test is over, there is a background check, agility training and psychological exams.
The course starts Oct. 5.
To sign up, potential candidates must go to the civil service department at Mount Vernon City Hall before Sept. 22.
