City of Middletown to offer free bus rides during winter months

The City of Middletown is offering free bus rides for all Transit Orange Newburgh-area routes during the winter months.

New efforts are underway in Orange County to expand local transit access. 

The City of Middletown is offering free bus rides for all Transit Orange Newburgh-area routes during the winter months. 

Sen. James Skoufis secured $60,000 in state funding, distributed through the Department of Transportation, to make this free fare program possible. The program will run through April 30, 2024. 

The four routes with free bus rides offered include: 

  • Highland Ave/Tall Oaks/Summitfield/Community Campus 

  • David Moore Hts/ShopRite (Dolson Ave)/Middlecrest Crossing/Amchir/OCCC

  • Walmart/Galleria/Crystal Run Healthcare/Orange Regional Medical Center

  • Senior Way/Aldi/ShopRite (211)/Price Chopper

Riders will not be required to show identification or proof or residency to board the buses.
