Parks officials say the city of Kingston's public pool will be closed for the season starting Sunday, Aug. 21.
It was originally scheduled to close several weeks from now, but the Parks Department says in adherence with water mandates, it brought in fresh water to keep the pool open through the weekend.
This comes after the city first declared a drought emergency Aug. 2 and created even more mandates last week because of low water levels at Cooper Lake reservoir, the city's water source.
The city says Kingston Point beach will be open with lifeguards next week Wednesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
