Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone's plan to replace the city's inspector general is being met with backlash from the City Council.
Council members argue that with a bevy of audits under way, it isn't the right time to replace Inspector General Phil Zisman. Amicone on Tuesday chose Michael White, a senior attorney for a New York Supreme Court judge, as Zisman's replacement.
"I certainly don't understand and neither do most of my colleagues" why Amicone is changing inspector generals now, says Councilman John Murtagh.
One current probe launched by Zisman is a look into the school district's health and welfare spending.
