The city says it is getting the gears turning on restarting multiple previously halted bike lane projects in Brooklyn.

This includes parts of Kingston Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue and other areas in East Flatbush, as well as Midwood and Flatbush.

The city says it will also complete the final block of the protected bike lane on Ashland Place in Fort Greene. News 12 previously reported that people there referred to as "Crashland" due to safety concerns in the area.

The city says the goal is to improve traffic safety. It says protected bike lines decrease traffic deaths and serious injuries by 18%.

Michael, who is a cyclist, say he's all for it.

“It will be nice because it’ll be safer for me and other people," said Michael.

A driver named Gavi say he's not looking forward to it.

“Not good. We have limited parking as it is and limited drive space, more people moving in. We can't be cutting that away we need room for the cars," said Gavi.

The city says the New York City Department of Transportation will be implementing the projects starting in the spring.
