Yonkers police are reminding trick-or-treaters that there is a Halloween curfew in the city tonight.
There is a citywide curfew for children 16 years of age and younger on Halloween night. The rules of the curfew in Yonkers are that children ages 11 and younger must be home by 10 p.m., 10:30 p.m. for those 12 to 13, and 11 p.m. for kids ages 14 to 16. Those accompanied by a parent or guardian are exempt from the curfew.
Violators to the curfew will be taken to the nearest Yonkers police precinct and a parent/guardian will be notified.
Yonkers city officials put Halloween rules in place years ago to make sure all the little ghosts and goblins have fun on this special night, but also stay safe.
In addition to the curfew, parents are encouraged to be mindful of their children's activities today and this evening.

Yonkers isn’t the only Hudson Valley city with a curfew. The city of The City of Newburgh also has a city-wide curfew for minors 16 years of age and under.
The curfew is effective from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. And just like in Yonkers, exceptions to the curfew may be made for minors accompanied by a parent or guardian.
