"The treats help keep the tradition alive" is a sentiment echoed at Circo's Pastry Shop in Bushwick, especially on Easter Sunday.
The bakery team at Circo's has been prepping around the clock to bring what they call “a slice of joy to thousands of Easter tables around the country.”
"That's our business. Bringing families together around the table and sharing our pastries. It brings a lot of history and remembrance to the table when they bring Circo's around. And it's a great feeling on our end that we can help celebrate that," says co-owner Anthony Pierdipino.
Over the last couple of days, Circo's has been up before the sun to prep special treats like Easter bunny cakes, hand-made cannolis, and Marzipan lambs in anticipation of the holiday rush.
They say they have fulfilled over 5,000 Easter orders nationwide, and the orders just keep coming. It's a good problem to have says the owner, considering the shop had to close on Easter in 2020 due to the pandemic for the first time since its grand opening in 1945.
The Marzipan lamb equipped with coconut grass and candies takes about one week to complete - a tradition that Pierdipino says he holds near and dear to his heart thanks to his dad.
"Really, my father taught me everything I know. Every day, I'm thankful for all that he taught me. He's my best friend and hero. And I couldn't be happier to be doing it," he says.
