A News 12 viewer from Westchester gave a 5-year-old Hawthorne girl a sweet surprise Friday after hearing about her ordeal with a rabid coyote.
News 12 reported earlier this month that the animal bit Natalia Petrellese on the playground at Carroll Park on Kensico Road. An off-duty Irvington police officer was at the park and was able to subdue the animal until police arrived.
Natalia’s story went viral on News 12’s social media pages, many people applauding the youngster for her bravery.
One of those viewers was Ashley Daly, the owner of Be Candylicious – a clothing store based out of Pleasantville.
“I was so impressed with her candor and how articulate she was, thinking of the rabies shots she would have to go through,” said Daly. “When she said she had holes in her sweater, I thought we can fix that.”
Natalia was overjoyed when she learned that she was going on a shopping spree at Daly’s home, which was set up to look like a store.
“It actually means the world to me, that people do have a heart and do care,” said Kasey King-Petrellese, Natalia’s mother.
