The roadside shooting of a Chappaqua couple Saturday night has police baffled and debating if they were the victims of road rage.
New Castle police say Carlos Perez Olivo, 58, and his 55-year-old wife Peggy were driving on Route 100, near Route 133 in Milwood, when a car forced them to pull over by cutting them off. According to police, the other car's driver entered the Olivos' back seat at approximately 11:15 p.m. After a struggle, police report the assailant shot Carlos in the abdomen and Peggy in the back of the head.
The couple is being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, where Carlos was able to drive himself and his wife after the attack. Police say Peggy is in critical condition and her husband's condition is unknown.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the New Castle Police Department at 238-1566.
