Expect muggy weather with some light rain showers through Friday and into the weekend as remnants of Hurricane Helene come through.
After some light rainfall Thursday, parts of Long Island are now in a slight drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. It has been a very dry month and any rainfall in the forecast is expected to be light.
Most of Friday will be dry and mild with the chance for some scattered showers at night and into Saturday.
Long Island will be on the fringe of Hurricane Helene this weekend with clouds and some showers on Saturday.
The better weekend day will be Sunday with some sunshine and a seasonable feel.
FORECAST:
OVERNIGHT: Cloudy and muggy with patchy fog and a spot sprinkle or shower. Lows near 64 degrees with southwest to north winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 6:45 a.m.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy with the chance of a spot shower. Highs near 74 degrees. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunset: 6:40 p.m. Lots of clouds at night with the chance of a few showers. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Lows near 63 degrees.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with the chance for some showers early. Breezy at times. Highs near 71 degrees. Lows near 59 degrees.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny and nice with highs near 69 degrees. Lows near 57 degrees.
MONDAY: Partly sunny and nice with highs near 70 degrees. Lows near 57 degrees.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny with the chance of scattered rain showers. Highs near 69 degrees. Lows near 57 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with highs near 70 degrees. Lows near 56 degrees.
