Hundreds of friends and supporters packed the auditorium of the High School Performing Arts Center in Rye Sunday for the ceremonial swearing-in of Rep. George Latimer.
The position is his latest accomplishment in a career in public service that spans more than 30 years on local, county and state levels.
Latimer has never lost an election since winning the Rye City Council seat in 1987.
He would go on to serve in the New York State Assembly, then the New York State Senate before his election as Westchester County executive in 2017.
He resigned that post last year, following a decisive victory on the Democratic ticket in the November election and after defeating incumbent Jamaal Bowman in the Democratic Primary.
