Another utility rate proposal by Central Hudson is coming just weeks after hikes were approved.

Central Hudson says it proposed a plan that would increase both electric and gas bills by about 30 cents next summer.

The utility says this is needed to provide reliable service once the current plan expires next June.

If the new plan is approved, it would go into effect on July 1, 2025.

Sen. Michelle Hinchey responded to the rate hike request. In a statement, she said in part, "This is a slap in the face to Hudson Valley families. On the very day our bills went up, Central Hudson is already requesting another rate hike."

Hinchey went on to say that she will fight the proposal every step of the way.
