In a News 12 exclusive, a brazen theft was all caught on camera in the parking lot of a Chase Bank in Westchester Square.
It happened at 2725 E. Tremont Ave. when Thatyana Peralta was visiting the bank in broad daylight. In surveillance video obtained by Peralta, you can see the suspect lurking behind Peralta's car as she parks. Then as soon as she gets out of the driver’s side to go inside, the robber rushes along the passenger side of the car then walks away. Once she’s in the bank, the thief returns, starts digging inside her car and gets away with an envelope Peralta says had over $5,000 in it.
The NYPD says they are investigating the case and have not made any arrests, but warn drivers to always check the perimeter of their vehicle before exiting.
