There are two words that will help you over the next few days: caution and layers! Some light snow will be scattered across the lower Hudson Valley this afternoon. This can lead to slippery travel. Untreated, low-traveled areas will become snow covered through the day. This is not a big storm in terms of snow totals and it can be considered festive snow, but can also lead to those slower than usual and slippery travel impacts.
Tomorrow morning, winter officially arrives at 4:21 a.m and there will still be scattered light snow showers and flurries. It does completely dry out into the afternoon, but then get ready for the coldest air of the season yet! It will be windy and frigid feeling tomorrow afternoon with wind chills in the upper teens to low 20s.
Tomorrow night into Sunday morning, wind chills can be anywhere from around five degrees below zero to around 10 degrees above zero. That can become dangerous if you are not dressed in layers with the extremities covered.
It will be dry from Saturday afternoon through Monday. There can be a few mixed snow and rain showers on Christmas Eve Tuesday, but Christmas Day and the start of Hanukkah on Wednesday is looking drier with highs back to near 40 degrees.
Use caution traveling with the light snow around.
