A Hyde Park resident is facing charges after a cashier was stabbed during an altercation at a gas station, police said.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at the Sunoco gas station on Albany Post Road. Police said a verbal and physical altercation involving tobacco rolling papers escalated, and a cashier was stabbed.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, according to police.

Several hours later, 27-year-old Sydney Height was arrested. Police said Height faces charges including assault and robbery.

Height is being held in the Dutchess County Jail.

The injured cashier is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
