A Rye mother is facing charges for allegedly leaving her baby daughter alone in a hot car Wednesday in Port Chester.
Carrie McKenzie, 33, allegedly left her 5-month-old daughter alone in a car outside of Modell's on Boston Post Road. Police say one window was left open about 2 to 3 inches.
Witnesses alerted police after walking in the parking lot and hearing the baby crying. Police say the good Samaritans were able to reach in the window and gain access to the baby. She was taken to White Plains Hospital and was found to be in good health. She has since been released to her father.
McKenzie was released after posting bail. She faces a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.
