A 19-year-old New Rochelle woman escaped serious injury when the car she was driving slammed into a tree.
The woman was driving southbound on Pine Brook Boulevard from White Plains Sunday morning when her 2005 Nissan Sentra jumped the guard rail and hit the tree.
A witness who talked to the woman after she climbed out of the vehicle said that she had fallen asleep.
The woman had changed a flat tire on her car earlier Sunday morning. The spare tire was on her car at the time of the crash.
Officials say that the woman suffered upper-body injuries, but did not have any broken bones or lacerations. She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center.
Police say no charges have been filed at this time.
