Traffic was backed up on the Bronx River Parkway Thursday afternoon after a car plummeted into the Bronx River.
The accident happened near the northbound Elm Street exit in Bronxville, leaving traffic backed up for at least a mile.
Police say the driver managed to escape without injury and call 911. He was checked out by emergency crews at the scene and did not go to the hospital.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but police say it has been a busy day for them because of the wet weather.
