Car destroyed in Rye after bursting into flames

A car in Rye was completely destroyed after catching fire near the intersection of Old Post Road and Playland Access Road.
The SUV, as seen in a photo shared by the City of Rye on its Facebook page, was left charred following the incident, which occurred around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. The Rye Fire Department swiftly responded to the scene, managing to extinguish the flames by noon.
According to reports, the driver noticed smoke emanating from the engine while traveling on I-95. He promptly pulled over upon reaching Rye and attempted to inspect under the hood. However, upon lifting it, the car quickly burst into flames.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
