Savanna DiFatta, of New Rochelle, led 5,000 people in the "Light the Night Walk" at Rye Playland Saturday night raise money for blood cancer research.
DiFatta, 8, was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago. She spent two years in and out of the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital.
Procedures she underwent included spinal tap injections, blood transfusions and at least 10 forms of chemotherapy. Her cancer is now in remission.
Savanna's mother, Jenn, said that she wouldn't let her daughter lose to leukemia.
"You go through these things you never dream of, and you just do it, you don't think, because you have no choice," she said.
