A frustrated Campbell Hall couple turned to News 12 for help about excessive barking at a neighboring dog kennel.

“When we found this house, we fell in love with it,” says Ben Yavuz. “When it is quiet, it is heaven."

Ben and Deb Yavuz, however, say their "heaven" has been regularly disrupted, since shortly after moving in two years ago, by the sound of dozens of dogs barking all day from a kennel next door.

“We call this town now “Campbell Hell.” It's name is Hall, but it is Campbell Hell,” says Ben Yavuz. “It has turned to almost torture for us."

The homeowners claim their realtor and the prior owners weren't upfront about the amount of noise they should expect from the kennel before they bought the home.

The couple say they’ve tried to talk to the owners at Timber Ridge Kennels on Route 207 about the noise and filed many complaints with the Town of Hamptonburgh.

“At night, dogs howling, barking. The howling is the worst,” says Deb Yavuz.

News 12 initially didn’t hear the dogs barking while there, but the couple shared a video with the loud sound of dogs barking, time stamped earlier in the day, at 11:07 a.m. News 12 eventually heard the sound of multiple dogs barking for several minutes about 30 minutes after arriving for the interview.

The couple also showed News 12 dozens of videos they took during the day and at night chronicling the problem, where the loud sound of dozens of dogs barking can be heard. They say the town has a noise ordinance that prohibits excessive dog barking but allege it's not being enforced.

News 12 reached out to town officials several times but never heard back. The couple showed News 12 emails from the town that claim officials didn't hear barking when they were there.

News 12 reached out to the kennel but it declined to comment.

The Yavuz's say their at their wits end in their search for their silent slice of heaven.

“We love animals,” says Ben Yavuz. “We love dogs, but we can’t even nap or have family at our house because of the noise.”

The kennel is currently up for sale for nearly $1.3 million. The Yavuz family hopes the new owners are required by the town to minimize any barking.
