A 15-year-old Bronx girl was arrested Saturday for murder, manslaughter and assault in the brutal death of John Hopkins-Drago, the adopted son of a Pleasantville family.
Police are not discussing a motive at this point, but published reports say Sharell Butler could have been angry with 22-year-old Hopkins-Drago for ratting her out to cops about a robbery committed last year.
Hopkins-Drago's mutilated body was discovered a week ago in a garbage bag at a Bronx apartment building on Barnes Avenue, not far from where he lived with his uncle. He had multiple stab wounds to the head and neck.
Butler, an alleged gang member, is also reportedly charged with murder in an unrelated homicide where a Throgs Neck man was shot to death during a home invasion.
Hopkins-Drago's adoptive mother, Ann-Marie, spoke to News 12 Saturday. She says her son had problems, got in trouble with drugs and got caught up with the wrong crowd.
