One local organization is helping older Jewish residents celebrate Hanukkah by providing them with extra food.
The Bronx Jewish Community Council is holding its annual food-donation event at the B'nai B'rith Senior Housing Center in Co-op City.
Volunteers from around New York stopped by to pick up food packages to deliver them to seniors who cannot leave their homes.
More than 450 packages went out Sunday afternoon, with each containing goods such as potato pancake mix, gefilte fish and grape juice.
Organizers say the event is a great way to help seniors celebrate Hanukkah and give back to the community.
The BJCC also holds a food-donation event every spring before Passover.
