Building partially collapses in Mount Vernon, shuts down parts of street

A portion of S. Fourth Avenue in Mount Vernon is temporarily closed due to a partial building collapse. According to officials, the road is closed to car and pedestrian traffic between W. Third and W. Fourth Streets.
It's unclear when the road will reopen, but a city employee at the scene said a roof on the street partially collapsed and took out the siding of a building.
According to the employee, the city first learned about the incident a little before 5 a.m. and said he was happy to report that no one got injured.
The individual added that multiple crews from the city, including representatives from the Buildings Department and the Office of Emergency Management, assessed the situation.
News 12 crews also spotted city employees taking a look at other buildings in the area to make sure their structures were safe.
