Westchester County is facing a projected budget shortfall as expenses continue to rise.

County Executive Ken Jenkins says the county is looking at a $17 million gap this year.

Jenkins shared the update during his quarterly report Tuesday.

He says higher costs for health care, daycare and other community services are putting pressure on county finances.

"Global instability, inflation and uncertainty surrounding federal funding… continues to create challenges not just for Westchester County, but for governments across the country," Jenkins said.

Officials say they will continue monitoring the budget throughout the year.

Jenkins says updates will be provided if there are any major changes.
