A new Williamsburg bookstore is giving readers something to scream about.
The Twisted Spine, at 306 Grand St., is New York City’s first bookstore dedicated exclusively to horror and dark literature.
Owners Lauren Komer and Jason Mellow launched the concept after hosting pop-up events around the city last year and finding strong demand from horror enthusiasts.
The brick-and-mortar shop opened in September and features everything from spooky classics to a horror section designed for children. It also doubles as a cafe, offering coffee, pastries and late-night drinks for visitors who want to linger among the shelves.
Mellow added that the goal is to make The Twisted Spine more than just a shop, but also a gathering space for people who share a love of the genre.
With Halloween around the corner, the store has extended hours on weekends and plans to expand its schedule through October.
