A Brooklyn nonprofit is helping seniors become more tech-savvy.
Digital Girl, Inc. is hosting a series of digital literacy workshops at the Major R. Owens Community Center in Crown Heights to help seniors learn how to safely use the internet.
The course includes internet and computer basics, such as emails, calendars and mobile apps. They also teach useful tips to identify and avoid potential online scams.
"Everything is about technology. Phones are smartphones now, which are just little computers," said Michelle Gall, founder of Digital Girl, Inc. "We needed to help our older people understand how to use it."
They will be hosting another digital literacy workshop for seniors on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
