A Bronxville man is facing charges after a scam targeted a Hastings grandparent, resulting in a loss of nearly $25,000 in cash.
The resident received a call from someone posing as her granddaughter involved in a fictitious alcohol-related car crash.
Another individual posing as a public defender orchestrated the collection of $15,000 in cash, followed by an additional $9,500 under false pretenses.
The grandparent later discovered the scam and provided crucial information about the scammer to authorities.
Konstantio Aivazis, 60, was subsequently arrested in Greenburgh and charged with grand larceny.
