A Bronx woman who thought she was going to adopt her friend?s four children is now fighting to keep them.

Aida Colon says her childhood friend from Oklahoma had to give up custody of her children. According to Colon, her friend would only give up parental rights if Colon was the foster mother and eventually the adoptive mother. Six weeks ago, the Administration for Children?s Services in New York named Colon the children?s foster mother, despite some missing paperwork from Oklahoma.

Colon says she then received a phone call from child welfare in Oklahoma about the man who worked on her case. According to Colon, the man, who is being investigated for fraud, misinformed her about her adoptive rights. Colon was told the children would have to be returned to Oklahoma. Colon says she will do everything in her power to keep the four children together and in the Bronx with her.
