A Bronx school principal is recovering Saturday after police say family members of a student assaulted him.
The Department of Education (DOE) says Principal Nicholas Martin of Community School 6 was breaking up a fight between students Tuesday. School officials say one of the kids involved in the fight told his grandfather that the principal assaulted him. Police say Muhammad Shaqur and Henry Timmons confronted Martin in the school cafeteria. The two men were arrested.
Because of the assault, the school will no longer allow parents in the cafeteria, lobby or to exit through the side doors. Crisis counselors were at the school to help students and staff feel safe.
