? Many Bronx parents are upset over a ruling that will allow thousands of New York sex offenders to take their names off a watch list.
A federal judge ruled Wednesday that a change to Megan?s Law, which calls for sex offenders to stay on public registries for 20 years or a lifetime, does not apply to 4,400 offenders. The ruling came after a group challenged the stricter changes, citing an agreement the state made with offenders a decade ago. The court said New York cannot go back on its word now.
Bronx and city lawmakers plan to fight the recent order.
