Police are searching for the live-in girlfriend of a Bronx woman who was fatally stabbed in the chest early Tuesday morning.
The body of the 30-year-old victim was discovered inside an apartment at 1591 Fulton Ave. shortly after 1:30 a.m.
Police say the woman, whose name has not been released, lived inside the apartment with her female partner. According to neighbors, the two women had a rocky relationship and were frequently heard arguing.
Police say six children also lived inside the apartment, and they may have witnessed the woman?s murder.
One neighbor says she called police when she saw the children race downstairs with the victim?s girlfriend, calling for help. Another neighbor says the girlfriend came banging on her door, leaving behind a bloody handprint, and asked the neighbor to call the police.
The woman, however, disappeared before officers arrived at the scene.
According to authorities, the New York City Administration for Children?s Services transferred the children into their father?s care.
Police say they are investigating the fatal stabbing as a homicide and are searching for the victim?s girlfriend for questioning. So far, no arrests have been made.
