A Bronx man was sentenced Thursday for a 2020 car crash that killed his three passengers on the Cross County Parkway.
Yordany Bautista-Hernandez, was sentenced
from 2 ½ to 7 ½ years in prison after pleading guilty to
manslaughter.
Authorities say the 20-year-old was driving 119 mph
when his car struck a guardrail in Mount Vernon
and rolled over.
Bautista-Hernandez also expressed sorrow as to
what happened.
His attorney said it was a difficult day for all.
‘What I witnessed today was one
of the saddest, most emotional exchange of forgiveness, anger and hurt, all
together. And my client was very remorseful and he's going to have this pain
with him, after the sentence he received today," says defense attorney Darnell
Crosland.
Judge James McCarty said he appreciated the
defendant accepted a high degree of remorse and accepted responsibility for his
actions but said the impact of those actions cannot be measured.
