A Bronx library is offering free English classes after a community center closed.
The Highbridge Library gave out over 100 tickets Tuesday for the free English as a Second Language, or ESL, classes. They say all the tickets were sold out just after 9:15 a.m.
The library says they have offered the classes for years, but a nearby community center closed in May and left the neighborhood without a resource for the classes.
The library has also added another class so that people can learn English four mornings out of the week. Students say learning the language is the key to success in the United States.
The classes are offered at no charge, but the students are expected to show their commitment to learning.
