A brand new center in the Bronx is helping elderly members of the LGBT community live fun and free, no matter their age.
Services and Advocacy for GLBT elders, better known as SAGE, celebrated the grand opening of new facility in Fordham.
Bronx resident Joyce Banks is among those who found comfort at SAGE after her partner of 30 years passed away in 2013. She would travel to its Harlem location, but is thrilled that a sister site is now in her borough.
Officials say the SAGE is well respected in the aging community, as well as in the LGBT community, allowing older people to feel comfortable expressing their sexual identity.
SAGE has plans to keep expanding by opening a location in Brooklyn in the coming months.
