A hearing on the new Yankee Stadium Tuesday brought protesters to the steps of City Hall. At the hearing, the City Council Land Use Subcommittee weighed in on whether current plans adequately replace parkland that will be taken away when the new stadium is built. Labor unions, members of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, clergy groups and Bronx community organizations rallied in support of the plan. Meanwhile, Bronx residents held a separate rally calling on the City Council to reject the plan claiming that it will reduce recreational space. If the committee approves the plan, it will go to the full council next week.
