There is good news this morning for drivers in Mount Vernon and Yonkers as work on the Broad Street Bridge is complete.

Officials at the Westchester County's Department of Public Works say they have reopened the span and that that repairs finished nine days ahead of schedule. Traffic in both directions between Midland Avenue and Locust Street can now get through.

The 91-year-old bridge was deteriorating, and a $2 million construction project began back in 2012 with work being done on the deck and the arches below.

The bridge spans over the Bronx River Parkway and Metro-North Railroad connecting Yonkers and Mount Vernon.

Work is still being done on the underside of the structure, but for now Broad Street will remain open.
