Amid rising costs, Chris Gee – funeral director at Bridgeport's Lester Gee Funeral Home – is encouraging families to buy life insurance so they don't come up short when a loved one passes away.
"It's important to be prepared and a simple life insurance policy will provide that security – but it must be purchased two years in advance," Gee told News 12. "Many families try and buy life insurance when a loved one gets sick and it doesn't work that way. You have to plan ahead.”
Gee's advice comes at a time when many family start GoFundMe campaigns to help cover funeral costs.
"It's always better to be prepared and not depend on raising money after a person passes away," he said.
