A special recognition was made on Memorial Day as a bridge in West Harrison was dedicated in honor of a fallen hometown hero.
Joseph Lemm was an NYPD detective in the Bronx and a technical sergeant in the U.S. Air National Guard.
In 2015, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, Lemm died during a suicide bombing at 45.
He left behind a wife, two kids and a community that called him Superman.
On Monday, the White Plains Avenue Bridge that crosses over I-287 in West Harrison, was named in his honor.
His family, Westchester County Executive Latimer and NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea spoke at the ceremony.
