A Brewster eatery that serves free Thanksgiving dinners could see an end to the tradition.

Bob’s Diner, which began serving up Thanksgiving dinners free of charge 15 years ago, could close its doors soon with a future project as the main cause.

"The reason this might be our last year is because the Village of Brewster has a redevelopment project going on,” said owner Thomas Sprague.

Sprague told News 12 the redevelopment project would likely mean the closure of diner.

"So, what's going to happen is, they're going to tear down five different sections of the village,” he added. “I'm in the first section."

Local residents have pitched in for years, donating food, cakes, cookies and other treats to make Thanksgiving happier for all who stop by.

"I'm happy you know, to come for dinner, to enjoy the dinner over here,” said Brewster resident Rudy Pinto.

There aren’t any plans to re-open the diner in another location.
