For the past 20 years, RF Youth Boxing has helped thousands of underserved kids in lower Fairfield County.
Now, the organization needs help from the community.
“Tonight, we’re boxing for a purpose,” says executive director Ahmad Mickens. “No one does it like we do it, and no one is doing it for the cause that we’re doing it for."
The organization held its annual fundraiser Friday night in Greenwich. Proceeds will go toward buying a permanent space for the program.
“This is our third location where we are renting space," says Mickens. "Sometimes you’re forced to move or prices go up.... What would it mean for us to have a place to call our own? It would mean the world."
The nonprofit says its goal is to raise $200,000.
"If you have any youth that you feel need a place to call their own or a place to escape," says Mickens. "Send them down to us at Revolution training."
